While driving home one night on route 460 I was pulled over by officer Butts (I'm not being funny that's his real name) I had my cruse set to 55mph as that was the speed limit of the road, he tells me that he clocked me going over 80mph and that he could have arrested me that night and that he was going to "cut me a break" and say I was only going 70. I own a 2012 Chevrolet Volt that's an electric car that will get me around 40 miles to the charge, once my battery depletes the gas powered Generator will turn on and supply power to the battery to maintain a charge however, in order for it to maintain a charge you can't drive aggressively (especially in mountainous terrain's such as here in southwest Virginia.) otherwise you would be using more power then the generator is able to supply, what the car is programmed to do in this situation is reduce your speed to about 35mph until it supplies enough power back into the battery, you will also see a message say "propulsion power is reduced" I stay off the interstates because if I go past speeds of about 62mph then I get that same message.

I can't say the same about the other police officers that work here at the police department as this is the ONLY bad experience I've had with a Police officer, but the fact officer Butts didn't even have to provide any additional evidence other then just "say" I was speeding shows this system is flawed in so many ways. Everyone is capable of making mistakes and not even police officers are perfect. This just shows me that Police officers have the capability to get away with just about anything which is why I equipped my vehicle with a dashcam that connects to my OBD2 port to always show my speed while it's recording just in case an incident like this happens again.

Great job they do.

Thank you Roanoke County Police for handling the domestic dispute on September 18, 2017 in a professional and safe way. I'm a neighbor and I felt secure how you were handling this incident. Thanks for all you do to keep us safe.

I thought that this was going to be easily settled in court however, even though I had printed out the page in my manual explaining my vehicles limitations as well as mention that we could've easily looked at the footage/radar calibration records to show that I wasn't speeding. But because Officer Butts "testified" that I was the one who was speeding, the judge said we didn't need to look at the footage/radar calibration records because apparently officers are never wrong. I'm not going to go on about the judges decision on here but I will end it with this.

Hate it. Not a nice place to visit

Quick to violate your civil rights.

So let me share my experience with one of the officers at this department so the same thing doesn't happen to anyone else as this whole issue could have been settled with footage from the officers dashcam\Radar calibration records.
