Went here for brunch on Sunday. Wasn’t completely happy with everything for the price and expectation. When we ordered oysters to start they never came and our waiter didn’t even notice til we said something at the end of the meal. We also ordered the eggs Benedict which I love! But the whole thing was not very warm. I’m not sure if they used cold ham? But it wasn’t as delightful as I have had in the past. All in all the food and service could have been better.

This place is a must try for both locals and travelers alike!

Thanks for the awesome experience!!!

Southern regional fare in an intimate setting.

We where passing through Roanoke and I was Googling what the best place to grab lunch was and Local Roots came up. I was sold at Farm Fresh. We walked in and was greeted by the owner, who is very charming and walked us through the menu. Between her warm hospitality & the amazing food, I was very pleased! This place is a gem and I wish I could pick it up and place it in Chicago so I won't have to travel 11 hours for their insanely delicious burger!

I had the heirloom grains bowl with wholesome, nutty barley harvested from Anson Mills, SC along with crisp winter radish, firm sweet potatoes, acidic braised mixed greens that had a slight flavor of pineapple, deliciously grilled mushrooms and a slow cooked egg that added a goey, salty flavor. As a precursor, I had fresh bread rolls with the most divine butter from Homestead Creamery!

Stopped by for lunch. Food was fresh and we'll prepared. We were in a hurry but it seemed like it could be a good place to just hang out.

Excellent service, warm atmosphere, and large selection of drinks both alcoholic and artisan. I had the farm burger which was absolutely delicious. However do be aware they only serve brunch on Sundays. I was there on a Saturday and someone at the table next to mine was quite disappointed.

Backstory: Young man grew garden and made sandwiches for locals as a business. Said young man decided to pursue a career in film and left town to study. The young man's parents took his idea one step further by buying a building and opening a restaurant based on the locally grown and harvested foods in the surrounding the regions (TN, SC, NC and VA). Then added a master chef who is both innovative, creative and pairs unlikely ingredients to delight the taste buds of its guests... And voila! Local Roots was born!
