Good trails for short day hikes, clean restrooms at visitors center. Very quiet and peaceful. The plans for developing the park into a camping destination with swimming facilities down at the river and cabins for rent seem optimistic; I look forward to returning when/if said amenities are available.
I love going there, especially when they are in period dress, and when they have hands on activities.
this is a wierd but cool place, and right now its free. Good trails and lots of cool old buildings.
Nice stop off the Blue Ridge Parkway outside Roanoke. Visitors Center houses information about the Parkway and surrounding areas.
